Full Job Description
Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to offer a Post-CCT Clinical Fellowship in Paediatrics, designed for doctors who have completed specialty training and are seeking to further develop subspecialty expertise, leadership capability, and independent clinical practice prior to taking up a substantive consultant role. This 12-month fellowship provides a balance of: Senior clinical responsibility at registrar/early consultant level Protected time for subspecialty interest development Opportunities for outpatient clinic exposure, leadership, education and service development The post is ideal for: Doctors post-CCT preparing for consultant roles Doctors wishing to gain additional subspecialty experience (SPIN or equivalent) Individuals seeking to strengthen their portfolio, leadership, or academic profile The role will be based primarily at Pinderfields Hospital (Wakefield) and Dewsbury Hospital, although all medical staff contribute to care across the Trusts sites. Less than full time, The post holder will work at a post-CCT level within a senior clinical role, contributing to the delivery of acute paediatric and neonatal services across the Trust, including inpatient, assessment unit and neonatal settings. Responsibilities include: Assessment and management of acutely unwell infants, children and young people Supervising and supporting junior medical staff Leading escalation and contributing to senior clinical decision-making Supporting patient flow and effective service delivery The role offers opportunities for increasing autonomous clinical practice, with appropriate consultant support. The Post holder will participate fully in the middle-grade rota, which includes: Weekday long days and twilight shifts Night shifts (paediatrics and neonates) Weekend working on a full shift rota The Trust operates a preference-based rostering system, allowing fellows to indicate their shift preferences where possible. Service provision remains an essential component of the role;
however, every effort will be made to balance this with the fellows developmental and subspecialty interests.
