Full Job Description
The aim of this post is to enhance experience in advanced HPB endoscopy and hepatology, while supporting the development of independent practice in preparation for a substantive consultant role. Accordingly, the post is intended for individuals who have completed their training and have been awarded a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Gastroenterology, with subspecialty accreditation in hepatology.
UHBW will provide the successful applicant with two dedicated endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) training lists per week, alongside additional exposure to HPB endoscopy. Attendance at the regional HPB multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting will be incorporated into the job plan., young people and vulnerable adults. The University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) Endoscopy Department provides a comprehensive range of endoscopic services to the populations of Bristol and the South West. These services include endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for advanced benign polyps and early cancers, endoscopic therapy for Barrett's oesophagus and dysplasia, stricture dilatation, ablative therapies, and tertiary biliary endoscopy, including ERCP, cholangioscopy and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS).
The UHBW Hepatology Department delivers specialist care across the full spectrum of liver disease for the local population in central and south Bristol, Weston-super-Mare and surrounding areas. In addition, the service provides regional expertise in the management of complex liver conditions, including hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatitis C, complex portal hypertension and liver transplantation, in collaboration with the Royal Free Hospital, London.
Services are primarily delivered at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital, with additional provision at South Bristol Community Hospital and through outreach services. A hepatology service at Weston General Hospital has been in development since 2023.
