Porter / Store Person

Clinical Engineering are looking for a Porter - Stores person to cover their spares parts and consumables stores. Based at the Northern General Hospital (NGH), but working across the city, the successful applicant will be responsible for booking deliveries into the stores using the departments database and also ensuring any parts ordered for jobs are delivered to the engineers.

They will be the the face of the department for visitors entering the NGH and will ensure that all visitors sign in and out of the department.

They will also cover the Porter when required retrieving and delivering medical devices around the hospital. In addition when required they will cover driving duties between sites in Sheffield delivering parts and medical devices. Training will be provided.

We are looking for someone with a full clean driving licence and level 2 qualification in English and Maths.

They must be happy working within a team as well as under their own initiative.

The applicant must be able to follow written standard operating procedures as well as verbal instruction.

They will be expected to participate in the annual stock check as well as stock and ordering audits within the department s ISO9001 Quality Management System.

They will be working with engineers of differing grades, managers, admin staff, couriers and nursing and ward staff.

The applicant will also have an annual appraisal as well as annual mandatory training.

The successful applicant will have good communication and people skills.

Clinical Engineering sits in the Directorate of Medical Imaging and Medical Physics (MIMP). The department has two sections, Medical Device Management and Medical Device Innovation.

There are over 70 staff in the department working in all the cities hospitals and community settings. There are a number of stores in the department the two largest being at the Northern General and Royal Hallamshire Hospitals. The department is responsible for the servicing and management of over 50,000 medical devices.
