Full Job Description
An opportunity has arisen to join our busy Portering Team at Bury & Rochdale . You will be responsible for the day to day management of the department and deputising for the portering and waste manager when necessary. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service at all times and actively support management and all of the core teams in delivering a professional service to all of our customers. You will take a lead during your shift in monitoring, by assessing and monitoring systems and teams in ensuring we deliver a professional and customer centred service in line with all policies and procedures. You will also deputise for the Portering Manager, as and when required, in relation to Portering Services. Main duties of the job You will need to demonstrate a flexibilty to shift patterns as the roles will also need to cover nights, weekends and Bank Holidays when necessary. - Experience supervising or leading a team in a busy operational environment
- Experience Co-ordinating Staff and prioritising workload to meet changing service demands
- Experience of promoting a positive team culture through effective communication, professionalism and leading by example Desirable
- Experience of working within an acute NHS or healthcare environment
- Experience supporting staff development, coaching or delivering on-the-job training
- Experience of using electronic request system to allocate work, monitor service demand and support operational delivery Skills Essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships
- Proactive approach to identifying issues, taking ownership and implementing practical solutions to maintain service delivery.
- Full Clean UK Manual Driving Licence
- Competent in Microsoft Office Desirable
- Ability to use operational information to support planning and decision making
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills Knowledge Essential
- Knowledge of Health & Safety Requirements
- Understand the role of the Portering service in supporting patient care and experience Desirable
- Knowledge of patient flow and operational pressures within a hospital setting
- Knowledge of information governance
- Knowledge of incident reporting systems Qualifications Essential
- GCSE Maths or equivalent
- GCSE English or equivalent Person Specification Experience Essential
