Maldon District Council is working in partnership with Essex Shared Services to support the recruitment of the role of Senior Policy Planner, a full-time position offering hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Office attendance will be in line with the needs of the Council and the Planning Policy Team, including occasional evening committees or meetings where necessary. Check out Maldon's to see what it's like to work for Maldon District Council. The role is within the Council's Planning Policy team, which is part of the Place, Planning & Growth directorate. This is an exciting time to join the Planning Policy Team at Maldon District Council. We are about to embark on the preparation of a new Local Plan for the Maldon District under the new plan-making system, providing a unique opportunity to help shape the future of the area, alongside the backdrop of Local Government Reorganisation. As part of the Planning Policy Team, you will contribute to the preparation, monitoring and review of planning policy across the district. You will also undertake research and analysis, assist in the production of key policies and evidence base and support consultation and public engagement activities. There are also opportunities to work collaboratively with infrastructure providers, neighbouring authorities and Essex County Council on strategic planning matters. The team is involved in a wide range of ongoing planning policy work, including supporting Parish Councils with neighbourhood plans, managing Section 106 agreements, undertaking monitoring activities and producing the Authority Monitoring Report (AMR). Alongside this, we are also working closely with our Development Management colleagues on a number of significant development proposals currently being brought forward by developers. To support this ambitious programme of work, we are looking to expand our team and are recruiting into two new positions; a Policy Planner and a Senior Policy Planner. These roles will allow the successful candidates the opportunity to further develop their planning policy knowledge, as well as communication, project management, analysis and report writing skills. These roles offer an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects and play a key part in shaping the future growth and development of Maldon District.
