Full Job Description
To provide specialist footcare for patient with diabetes complex high risk foot problems. This includes patients with acute and chronic foot wounds, patients with neuropathic and vascular complications, patient with foot complications who are immunosuppressed and patients who have poor tissue viability. The post holder will be clinically responsible for treatment of the high risk caseload working autonomously as well as work as part of the multidisciplinary team. The post requires accepting emergency referrals from GPs, community podiatrists, and other health professionals and will provide responsive specialist care to both inpatient and outpatients., We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist to join our service across North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will provide expert assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with complex diabetic foot disease, including ulceration, infection, Charcot neuroarthropathy, vascular compromise, lower limb wounds, and pre- and post-amputation care.
As a key member of the Multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot Team (MDFT), you will lead and coordinate MDT activity, provide rapid access to specialist assessment and intervention, and develop evidence-based treatment plans across acute, outpatient and community settings. You will deliver advanced wound management, debridement and high-risk foot care, while supporting integrated patient pathways to improve outcomes and reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications and amputations.
The role includes contributing to service development, clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives, including the National Diabetes Foot Care Audit (NDFA). You will also provide education, mentorship and clinical supervision to colleagues and students, promoting best practice in diabetic foot care. This rewarding role spans multiple sites, including Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital, within a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
