To support me in accessing the community safely while helping to build my confidence, independence, and enjoyment of activities outside the family home., Providing safe and attentive 2:1 support in the community Taking me for walks and outdoor activities Supporting visits to places I enjoy, such as: Aberdare Country Park Turbine Farm ALN cinema sessions Trampolining Supporting me while shopping to help increase confidence Ensuring my safety at all times Supporting with personal care as required
I am an energetic and lively 8-year-old girl living in the Aberdare area with my family. I have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and 15q11.2 microdeletion (a rare genetic condition). I also have Pica, a learning disability, and significant delays in communication and social skills. I am non-verbal and doubly incontinent. At times, I can become frustrated and may present with behaviours such as head banging. I have no awareness of danger and require constant supervision to ensure my safety and emotional regulation. I love being outdoors and enjoy people-watching. Some of my favourite places include the turbine farm and Aberdare Country Park. I can feel anxious when visiting new places, but I would really benefit from spending time in the community away from my family, enjoying activities that I love., Calm, patient, and energetic Active and enjoy outdoor walks Experienced or knowledgeable in communication support (knowledge of Makaton desirable) Understanding of autism and behaviours that challenge Reliable and committed
This is a part-time role and will be treated as formal employment. Applicants must:
- Have a National Insurance number
- Be willing to complete a trial period
- Be paid monthly, including appropriate holiday pay
- Provide satisfactory references
- Complete a DBS (Police) check prior to starting (cost covered by the Local Authority)
- Have the legal right to work in the UK
