Job Title: Plasterer


The Army United Kingdom offers an annual salary of £27,282 (after training). Work on building projects around the world. As a full-time soldier and entry-level Plasterer in the British Army, youll:



  • Add finishing touches to buildings including headquarters, hospitals, and military bases

  • Master trades including plaster boarding, painting, and tiling

  • Become an expert in skills like glazing and scaffolding

  • Carry out work on a variety of military and civilian projects

  • Study for qualifications including an NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Building and Structural Finishing (Military Engineering)


Qualifications Required:



  • Be between 16 years 6 months and 35 years 6 months

  • Have a GCSE Grade A-C/9-5 or Scottish National 5 in Maths, English Language, and one other subject

  • Be able to pass a basic fitness test

Step 1: Initial military training teaching you how to be a soldier, either basic military training for Junior Soldiers or adult basic training for Regular Soldiers.


Step 2: 12 weeks at the Royal School of Military Engineering learning military engineering skills including demolition and bridge building.


Step 3: 24 weeks of technical training at the Royal School of Engineering focusing on dry lining, painting, wall and floor tiling, planning, and site safety.
