Job Description
Plasterer The Army United Kingdom £27,282 a year (after training). Work on building projects around the world. As a full-time soldier, entry-level Plasterer in the British Army, youll:
- Add finishing touches to buildings including headquarters, hospitals and military bases
- Master trades including plaster boarding, painting and tiling
- Become an expert in skills like glazing and scaffolding
- Carry out work on a variety of military and civilian projects
- Study for qualifications including a NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Building and Structural Finishing (Military Engineering)
To qualify, you must:
- Be between 16 years 6 months and 35 years 6 months
- Have a GCSE Grade A-C/9-5 or Scottish National 5 in Maths, English Language and one other subject
- Be able to pass a basic fitness test
Set yourself up for life.
From the start of your training, youll earn £27,282 a year which will go up as you progress in your career.
From your first day of training, youll be gaining transferrable skills skills that could set you up for life. You dont need to know how to do the job before you get here, because well give you all the training you need.
- Step 1 is your initial military training teaching you how to be a soldier which will be basic military training if youre a Junior Soldier and adult basic training if youre a Regular Soldier.
- Step 2 will be 12 weeks at the Royal School of Military Engineering where youll learn military engineering skills including demolition and bridge building.
- Step 3 will be 24 weeks of technical training at the Royal School of Engineering learning about dry lining, painting, wall and floor tiling, planning and site safety.
Youll also receive 30 days annual leave every year (plus bank holidays and extra leave after operations), free medical and dental care, cheaper living costs, and free gym and sports facilities. And unless you're away on operations or training exercises, you'll normally work 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Youll even get to travel the world, taking part in the Armys adventurous training, and spending dedicated time playing the sports you love.
