Full Job Description

As a Trade Operative specialising in Plastering, you'll work across both occupied and empty properties, identifying defects, diagnosing repair requirements and delivering effective, high-quality solutions. Your work will include a wide range of plastering repairs and installations, from internal walls and ceilings to plasterboard repairs, dry lining, tape and jointing, external rendering, and associated decorating works.

Alongside your plastering expertise, you'll undertake a variety of general trade activities, including tiling, decorating, patch plastering, basic plumbing and basic carpentry tasks. You'll be responsible for ensuring all work is completed in line with current legislation, quality standards and Fairhive's service expectations.

You'll use handheld technology to accurately manage and record jobs from initial diagnosis through to completion, work closely with colleagues across different trades, and support apprentices by providing guidance and mentoring when required. Participation in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota is also an important part of the role. The position occasionally involves working in challenging conditions and within residents' homes, so a professional, respectful and customer-focused approach is essential.

We're looking for someone with proven plastering experience, excellent practical skills and a strong commitment to customer service. You'll ideally hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification in your trade or be able to demonstrate equivalent practical experience. You'll have good organisational and problem-solving skills, be confident managing your own workload and be comfortable using handheld technology and digital systems to support your work.

A full, valid UK driving licence is essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, contractors and stakeholders. Just as importantly, you'll share our commitment to delivering excellent services and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in everything you do.

At Fairhive Homes, we're driven by a simple yet powerful vision: "Homes for Living, Communities for Life" This isn't just what we do; it's what we strive for every day. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to develop your career in an empowering environment where your contributions are valued and recognised.

At Fairhive, we invest in your wellbeing. You can join our Health Cash plan which enables you to claim money back against a wide range of services and treatments.

We believe that flexibility fosters a more productive and enjoyable working environment. Therefore, depending on the role requirements, we offer flexible working conditions that help you balance your work and life!

You'll be part of a mission-driven organisation that makes a tangible difference in the community, allowing you to feel fulfilled in your work every day.
