Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Plaster Technician to provide casting services in our Outpatient Department and Wards across the Trust.

This role demands a proactive and compassionate approach, prioritising both technical expertise and patient well-being.

Working at the intersection of clinical care and teamwork, you will be expected to demonstrate initiative and problem-solving abilities, always with an eye for improvement and a commitment to the values that define our Trust.

We require someone to be a resource within the speciality of Plaster Services & casting techniques who will work independently within the subspecialty's scope of practice and supervise and train staff., Perform a comprehensive range of clinical skills, including assessments, treatment implementation, and review . Provide advice, products, and appliances to individuals independently and in accordance with professional training and scope of practice.

To provide quality application and removal of technical and specialist plastering/splinting and forms of bracing as per instructions from the prescribing Clinician, seeking advice from clinical staff where appropriate

Assist service manager in the running of the plaster room. Maintain and prepare specialist equipment; monitor and manage stock to reduce waste and increase financial efficiency.

Ensure a consistent level of patient care, remain informed about comprehensive aspects of patient health, and support health care education.

To provide education regarding casting and splintage, and offer thorough after-care guidance, including addressing potential patient concerns either in person or via telephone.

Participate in the evaluation of products, comparing costs, functionality, fitness for purpose and uses products and appliances in innovative ways ensuring best practices and treatment protocols are used

To support the development and implementation of new and improving services policies and procedures, within the scope of practice.
