Full Job Description

If you're looking for a role within the legal profession but where your work has a genuine impact on services, colleagues, and the communities we serve, this is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful outcomes at the heart of local government.
We are seeking a Planning and Regeneration Lawyer to work alongside the Head of Planning Legal Services delivering planning related legal advice, planning agreements and basic property work depending on experience.
The role would suit a property lawyer looking to diversify into planning with the benefit of support and training whilst continuing to carry out some work in their specialist area or a planning lawyer with some experience looking to further develop their skills and experience or looking for a new challenge.
About the role
If you're a property lawyer, conveyancer or commercial property solicitor looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to broaden your expertise, this could be the ideal next step in your career.
We are seeking a Planning and Regeneration Lawyer to work alongside the Head of Planning Legal Services. The role focuses on planning agreements and planning-related legal advice, whilst also offering the opportunity to continue undertaking property work depending on your skills and experience.
This position would particularly suit an experienced property lawyer or conveyancer who is interested in developing specialist knowledge in planning law. Full support and training will be provided to help you build your planning expertise while continuing to apply and develop your existing property law skills.
The role would also suit an existing planning lawyer looking to further develop their experience and take on a varied caseload within a supportive local government environment.
Working in local government offers the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work on communities, developments and regeneration projects, while benefiting from flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
You will:
Support and work alongside the Head of Planning Legal Services to ensure effective delivery of planning and related legal advice and support
Prepare, negotiate and complete planning agreements under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990
Assist with the provision of general planning advice
Where appropriate, deal with property sales and transfers and related work

Your qualities and behaviours are just as important to us as your experience. Is this you?
Collaborative; Ambitious; Results-driven; Empowering; Supportive
What you'll be doing
OK, I'm interested... but is it really the job for me?
As a Planning and Regeneration Lawyer you will:

We welcome applications from property lawyers and conveyancers looking to diversify their experience into planning law, as well as those already practising in planning law. You will have experience of managing a caseload and providing proactive, high-quality legal advice with minimal supervision.
