The role would involve managing and leading the Building Control and Planning Enforcement teams and assisting in achieving the Council's Corporate, Planning and Building Control enforcement priorities. The main aims of the role involve preserving Preston's heritage assets, addressing vacant and dilapidated buildings and ensuring that proportionate enforcement action is taken and managed effectively to address breaches of planning control and contraventions of building regulations.

We are looking for a forward-thinking and enthusiastic individual, with managerial and decision-making skills, including financial acumen. You will require strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team. The successful candidate will have the ability to secure quality outcomes whilst managing a demanding workload to meet statutory requirements, service targets and achieve financial sustainability. As such you should have excellent communication and negotiation skills. The role will require you to have extensive knowledge and experience of the planning system as well as current planning legislation, policies and procedure. You will be expected to be able to act on your own initiative and have the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
