Full Job Description
There is an exciting opportunity for a Physiotherapy Assistant within our Community Respiratory Team based at Wythenshawe Hospital. The team is committed to delivering high quality care across South Manchester to support individuals living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other long-term respiratory conditions. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of specialist respiratory nurses and physiotherapists, the post holder will support the delivery of expert assessment, treatment, and education in the community. The role involves working within a nationally accredited Pulmonary Rehabilitation service assisting registered staff with objective assessments such as questionnaires and exercise testing. The exercise and education classes require an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is passionate about improving patients' health Flexibility is essential, as the role supports administrative tasks, community clinics, oxygen services, and home visits on occasion. The successful candidate will work within their clinical boundaries, actively contribute to team development, and help drive continuous service improvement. The role is 2 days a week across Monday to Friday 8am-4pm. It is essential to drive a car with business use and have a UK approved driving license. You will be expected to drive to community locations on a daily basis. The main roles and responsibilities involve
- Pulmonary Rehabilitation. CRT run a nationally accredited pulmonary rehabilitation service. The assistant role is to work alongside the nurses and physios to lead group exercise sessions, deliver group education, facilitate individuals to exercise safely to the best of their ability. Excellent communication skills are essential to motivate patients.
- Administrative tasks . There are essential administrative tasks associated with PR including appointment booking, clinical record keeping, audit data entry and contributing to service development. Competent computer skills are essential
- Home visits. On occasion you may be required to visit patients at home to assist in delivery of treatment under the guidance of the nurses and physios. This may include equipment set up/instruction, completing objective measures or competency led treatments.
- The community oxygen service sits within CRT and there may be development of this role to assist with the service
