Full Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic Physiotherapist or Nurse to join the Liverpool Ventilation Service based at Aintree Hospital, to provide maternity leave cover at band 7 for 9 months. Alongside existing ventilation practitioners, you will work in a senior role providing expert assessment and treatment for patients requiring ventilation. The role is based in the ambulatory ventilation team, providing highly specialised care in the outpatient setting, as well as inpatient in other hospitals, and in the community. Duties include independent commencement, and support of patients on long-term non-invasive ventilation (NIV). Advanced secretion management skills would be advantageous, including assessment and use of mechanical cough augmentation.,

  • Undertake assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
  • Clinically diagnose and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, carers, and other health care professionals; this includes working across organisational boundaries.
  • Deliver specialist education in long term ventilation to patients, carers, and other professionals as part of a commitment to local, regional, and national education programmes.
  • Manage the caseload and prioritise patients as appropriate.
  • Work closely with other members of the team in the multi-disciplinary service.
  • Maintain and build upon current knowledge of evidence-based practice, developing a highly specialised knowledge of conditions and treatment.
  • Development of innovative services within the specialist field
  • Deliver and disseminate the findings of evaluation and audit and participate in relevant networks and conferences.

    B.Sc in Physiotherapy
  • Grad.Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Current registration with HCPC
  • Post Graduate courses in Management at various levels/equivalent
  • Desirable criteria
  • Post-Graduate courses in a variety of specialities/clinical education, Experience working in working in various specialities and in management roles, Experience in conducting audit
  • Experience in conducting or supporting Research projects, Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Forward thinking with knowledge of current NHS/speciality issues
  • Ability to pass on skills and knowledge to others
  • Excellent managerial skills
  • Ability to manage and work as part of MDT
  • Able to handle difficult, sensitive and emotional situations
  • Ability to think quickly, assess clinical situations and take decisions upon that information, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
