Full Job Description
New starters who require phlebotomy training will initially undertake a structured training and competency programme at Southend Victoria Plaza, supported by experienced colleagues. Once the required competencies have been achieved, you will work as part of our wider multi-site phlebotomy service., The post holder will be responsible for providing a safe, efficient, professional and patient-focused phlebotomy service.You will work with patients from a wide range of backgrounds and with differing needs, ensuring that each patient is treated with compassion, dignity and respect.
The role requires the post holder to work effectively within a busy clinical environment, both independently and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will be expected to maintain high standards of infection prevention, patient safety, confidentiality and professional practice at all times.You will be required to follow agreed procedures and laboratory requirements relating to patient identification, venepuncture, sample collection, labelling, handling and documentation.
You will also be expected to contribute positively to the team and support the continued development and improvement of the phlebotomy service
We are expanding our established phlebotomy service and are looking for skilled, compassionate and motivated Phlebotomists to join our growing team.

We welcome applications from experienced phlebotomists who can demonstrate excellent venepuncture skills, as well as individuals who are new to phlebotomy and have the right attitude, communication skills and commitment to develop.
For those new to the profession, we provide a structured training and competency programme to give you the knowledge, practical skills and confidence required to become a competent practitioner. Experienced phlebotomists will undertake an appropriate induction and competency assessment to ensure familiarity with our systems, processes and standards.
