Full Job Description
To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of phlebotomy and administrative duties. To provide general support to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures. Duties can include but are not limited to, acting as a central point of contact for patients as well as distributing information / messages and enquires for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers, processing both electronic and paper copy patient records, dealing with appointment system, and patients' blood pressure, pulse rate, height and weight.,
- To provide a high standard of customer care to patients, relatives & visitors.
- Ensure that all stationary & clinical stock levels are maintained.
- Notify a GP of any significant patient issues.
- Ensure full and accurate recording in the patient's computerised records.
- Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient interventions.
- Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients only as the result of a direct referral from a GP, nurse practitioner or practice nurse.
Northumbria Primary Care Ltd (NPC) is a pioneering partnership with local GPs and now manages several GP practices with around 120,000 registered patients in Northumberland and North Tyneside. Whilst appointees will have a base practice within NPC,they may be asked to work at other practices across our group. We do however limit this as much as possible as we appreciate continuity is vital to effective primary care. Please note that NPC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
