Full Job Description
- Supporting our dispensary with the ordering, receiving, dispensing, and checking of medication for wards and departments
- Travelling to a variety of wards and units across Hertfordshire
- Conducting medicines reconciliations to ensure safe and effective care
- Assessing patients' own drugs and transcribing for supply
- Providing clear and compassionate counselling to patients about their medicines
- Getting involved in pharmacy-related audits, stock reviews, and service development
We're seeking a motivated Pharmacy Technician who is excited to broaden their experience within mental health and learning disability services., An Accredited Medicines Management Technician and Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) - or working towards these - Qualified with a BTEC / NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent)
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) We are passionate about developing our staff and will support you to continue growing in your role.,
- BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent (or evidence of working towards it)
- To be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician Desirable criteria
- Accreditation in Medicines Management (or evidence of working towards it)
- Accreditation in Accuracy Checking (or evidence of working towards it)
- Practice educational supervisor qualification (or willing to work towards), Experience of working as a member of a team
- IT skills (including Microsoft Office)
- Experience of working as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of working to deadlines
- Experience of working within Standard Operating Procedures
- Experience in working in dispensary Desirable criteria
- Experience of training and managing staff
- Experience working in hospital setting
- Experience in working in Mental Health
- EMIS (Ascribe) Pharmacy Dispensing System, Ability to read/write in English language
- Able to work under pressure accurately within departmental SOPs to maintain quality standards
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Developed physical skills in dispensing, preparing, and checking of medicines involving a high level of accuracy
- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload on own initiative and be accountable for actions
- Good time management, organisation, and prioritisation skills
- Methodical with attention to detail
- Basic word processing and spreadsheet skills Desirable criteria
- Able to apply theory to practical work
- Ability to appraise performance and identify training needs, Pharmacy stock management Desirable criteria
- EMIS (Ascribe) Pharmacy Dispensing System
- Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) systems, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
