Full Job Description
To provide comprehensive specialised support to cancer services at the Horton Hospital, including dispensing support, Accredited Technician Checking, inpatient and day case drug ordering, checking patients own medications and counselling duties.,
- To work with the cancer team processing prescriptions for the Day Treatment Unit and the Outpatient clinics are labelled, dispensed and checked efficiently according to planned workload
- Drug supplies to the wards and departments including top-up service
- To work towards An Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT) qualification
- Maintenance of the computerised prescribing system
- Specialised patient counselling
- Perform regular stock checks and expiry date checking
- Take an active part in Departmental audits
- To contribute actively and constructively towards a working environment that encourages team working, mutual support and excellence in service delivery
- Opportunity to develop CPD, The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and proactive Pharmacy Assistant with excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills to join the Cancer pharmacy team, based at the Horton Hospital., Qualified Pharmacy Assistant with NVQ2 in Pharmaceutical Science, or equivalent. Hold a university of East Anglia (or equivalent) Medicines Management Assistant qualification to assess patients own drugs and order in patient medication, Hospital pharmacy provision in a number of different roles. - Utilisation of Hospital Pharmacy dispensing and Stock Management Computer Systems.
- Team working.
- Completing Safe and Secure Audits.
- Supervision of trainee pharmacy technicians and assistants. Desirable criteria
- Managing or co-ordinating near patient medicines management service.
- Utilisation of robotic dispensing.
- Understanding of drug usage and expenditure reports and use of financial reports.
- Conducting risk assessments.
- Investigation of Incidents and risk management.
- Quality or Cost Improvement Projects., Confidential and considerate to needs of others.
