Full Job Description
To support the safe and efficient preparation and dispensing of outsourced chemotherapy doses as part of the cancer and aseptics team.
To assist in the dispensing of Parenteral Nutrition (PN) standard bag.s To input PN formulas into the abacus program to allow for compounding of non-standard bags for Adult, Paediatric and neonatal patients within the trust.
To assist in the daily operations of the aseptic unit in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This part of the role is based off site of the main hospital.
Undertake clean room activities using aseptic techniques and semi-automated equipment to batch manufacture or prepare patient specific medicines in accordance with clean room behaviour principles.
All tasks are carried out under the supervision of either: a Pharmacy Technician, Science Manufacturing Technician or other suitably qualified person.

Pharmacy assistants/operatives are vital members of the pharmacy team who work closely with pharmacists and technicians. You will also be supporting other colleagues throughout the hospital. The preparation and supply of chemotherapy and other treatments to patients is a key part of the role. We are a very busy, large department in a fast-paced teaching hospital. Therefore, the ability to be able to work under pressure and respond to a frequently changing environment is essential.
