Full Job Description
The Senior PGR Manager position is a key role within the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES), responsible for leading the Faculty's PGR Support team and playing a crucial role in both improving our existing PGR support offerings and developing new initiatives in line with the faculty strategy and . The role will also be responsible for managing the NMES studentship budget, the management of the Faculty's UKRI studentship allocations and overseeing the NMES Doctoral School activities. Other important responsibilities will include representing the Faculty on College wide PGR boards, committees or task groups, ensuring that NMES is operating within the parameters of the Research Concordat and managing our financial and studentship record systems and reporting tools., The Equality Act of 2010 protects the rights of our students and staff and provides a framework to fulfil our duties to eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and in addition, to advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between those who share a protected characteristic and those who do not. To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience, 1. Extensive experience of postgraduate research administration in a university setting, including the interpretation of regulations, management of complex student cases, stakeholder advice, and process improvement.
2. Excellent IT skills (particularly MS Office, SharePoint, Power BI and student management and registry systems)
3. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills at all levels, including the ability to produce concise written material and reports for a range of audiences
4. Experience of direct line management or leading a team
5. Experience and confidence in handling multiple, complex budgets - excellent analytical and numeracy skills
6. Able to think strategically, contribute to strategic direction and take the initiative in improving processes.
7. Excellent organizational and time management skills, including flexible approach to managing a constant and varied portfolio of requests; able to meet multiple fixed deadlines
8. Ability to use initiative, work independently and demonstrate a proactive approach while maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistent attention to detail
Desirable criteria
1. First degree or other appropriate qualification
2. Substantial experience in project management and implementation, including report writing, preferably in an academic environment
