Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education (PSHE) Teacher

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMYOI Wetherby, working as a PSHE Teacher. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

• Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
• Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or commit to work towards within a specified timeframe
• Have experience in creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
• Have previous track record showing achievement of quality targets
• Have successfully produced accurate and timely reports
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Can motivate and enthuse learners
• Have organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets
• Demonstrate positive team working

YOI serves as an important correctional facility within the UK's youth justice system. The facility is a closed youth custody centre housing male juvenile offenders between the ages of 15 to 18. It provides a secure and supportive environment for young individuals who have been convicted of various offenses and require custodial sentences. The institution aims to promote rehabilitation, education, and personal development to facilitate their successful reintegration into society.
