Personal Assistant for an Autistic Child

Personal Assistant required for a funny, kind, active eleven-year-old boy who lives in the Stithians area.

He is ADHD and autistic with PDA traits and anxiety. We are looking for someone he can build a positive relationship with at his own pace, and who can provide him with some 1:1 support. This will initially involve spending time with him in our family home, getting to know each other. We have a dog, cats, a ferret, pigs and ponies at home, so being comfortable around animals is important.

He would like someone to support him with his communication and getting out on adventures, in particular trips swimming, either at the pool or the beach - he is happiest in the water. His interests include gaming (Minecraft, Mario and Roblox), going to the beach, swimming, cooking, anime and animals.

A personal assistant will enable him to build his confidence, enjoy activities in his local community, and develop his independence away from his family.

The rate of pay is £13.45 per hour plus mileage when he is in the vehicle.

4 hours per week are available, although we may be able to increase this.

A car driver is necessary as we live in a rural area, with business class insurance required.

Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs is essential.

The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
