Personal Assistant

To provide companionship and social support within my home environment, helping to maintain my wellbeing, independence and quality of life through meaningful engagement and conversation.

I am an older gentleman living in Llandough, Penarth with my wife. I have Alzheimer's disease and experience some difficulties with executive functioning. I previously worked as a Headteacher before retiring and I enjoy intellectual conversation and discussing a variety of topics.

My interests include cricket, Welsh history, general history and politics. I have also written and published articles. I have Type 2 diabetes which is currently well controlled., Be friendly, patient and reliable.

Have good communication and listening skills.

Enjoy conversation and engaging with people.

Have an interest in history, current affairs or cricket (desirable but not essential).

Be understanding of the needs of someone living with dementia or memory difficulties.

Respect privacy, dignity and confidentiality.

Be comfortable working in a home environment where smoking may take place.

Be comfortable around dogs, as there are two dogs at the property

This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.

All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.

Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.

Wages will be paid on a four-weekly and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
