Personal Assistant

I am seeking a Personal Assistant to support my 17-year-old Autistic son with building his independence, confidence, and life skills for 10 hours per week.

We are flexible with the days and hours to suit different activities.

My son has no physical health needs and is fully independent with personal care, his behaviour is very settled and he enjoys going out but requires supervision from another person to make sure he is safe and help to build his confidence as he is growing older.

He is polite and friendly but can appear shy. With consistency and time to build a

relationship he would like to access fitness activities including going to the gym, youth clubs, walks, and would love to access creative activities, my son loves Disney films and is interested in making films and acting.

How will the hours be used: To be used flexibly around school hours and weekends depending on activities and PA availability.

About Me

I am 17-years-old and live at home with my Mum.

I have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and an associated learning disability.

I am very creative, I love to draw, colour, and I am really interested in animation. I also enjoy watching films

(Disney are my favourite), and I am interested in trying singing, acting, and dancing. I am becoming more

interested in sports and would like to try out going to a gym. I am already building lots of independent life

skills and can prepare a simple meal with guidance (e.g. heating up soup).

I can be chatty especially when talking to people I know well and about things I am interested in, I need

other people to talk to me in clear, short sentences and to give me time to process what they have said. I

can appear shy to new people at first but I will speak when I am ready and feel comfortable.
