Drivers licence required: Yes

Own vehicle needed: Yes

Hours per week:

9 hours term time, 6 hours per weekend 2 to 1 use. 12 hours waking night on a Friday. 16 hours per week during school holidays, with 5 hours at 2 to 1 use and 6 hours at 1 to 1 use.

Hourly pay rate:

£12.71

Personal Introduction

Hi, my name is E and I am 16. I am looking for enthusiastic PAs who can work in a team and on their own to give my mum and sister some respite.

I am non-verbal, Autistic, MED13L Syndrome and I have Gastroparesis. My needs are severely complex.

I will communicate by showing you my needs or what I would like to do through hand gestures, sometimes I use pecs in school but not at home.

I need support with all aspects of care, food preparations/cooking for me and also need assistance when accessing the community such as supporting me walking or using my wheelchair.

I enjoy waterplay, swimming and sensory activities. I also like going for walking around ASDA and going on walks in general, as well as going for drives. Sometimes I like comfort from adults. I also enjoy playing and being on my iPad. I also have a great sense of humour.

Duties include:

  • Medication prompting/administering
  • Personal grooming
  • Eating and drinking assistance
  • Moving and handling
  • Clinical tasks
  • Other relevant duties as required
  • Shopping
  • Transportation
  • Companionship
  • Dressing / undressing
  • Bathroom assistance

Candidate qualities:

  • The applicant needs to be able to learn my cues and communication. My mum will help you getting to know me. You should be happy to join family days out.
  • The applicant should be willing to work in a flexible manner and be able to adapt to my moods offering both patience and understanding.
  • They must have some care experience a good sense of humour and be able to take the lead and interact with me.

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
