Personal Assistant

We are seeking a kind, reliable, and engaging Personal Assistant to support a fun and energetic 9-year-old boy in Porthleven.

About the Role
Hours will be required during evenings, weekends, and school holidays, with the potential for one overnight shift per month.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by supporting a child both at home and out in the community.

About the Child
The young person you will be supporting is:
Full of fun with a great sense of humour
Highly engaged in a variety of activities
Loving and enjoys building strong connections with the people around him
Non-verbal, and communicates using AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and Makaton
He values spending time with his Personal Assistants and thrives with people who are enthusiastic and interactive.

We are looking for someone who is:
Reliable and flexible
Energetic and playful.
Confident in engaging with children and building trusting relationships
Willing to support with life skills, such as shopping and accessing the community
Interested in learning and using communication methods like AAC and Makaton (training can be provided if needed)

Own transport is required. Mileage is paid at 40p per mile when transporting the child.

The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
