Full Job Description

I am looking for a caring and reliable Personal Assistant to support my child within the family home and eventually out in the community. This role would suit someone who is patient, energetic, calm under pressure, and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs to thrive. A consistent approach is very important, as time will be needed initially to build trust and develop a positive bond. Currently the role is funded for 6 hours per week, usually worked flexibly during the weekends, with additional flexibility during school holidays. As my son is home educated, there may also be opportunities for weekday support over time. My son is autistic, non-verbal, highly sensory seeking, and requires close supervision at all times to maintain safety due to risks including climbing, pica and choking. The role includes: Supporting with personal care Providing continuous supervision to maintain safety Supporting communication and interaction through play and engagement,

  • Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
  • Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
  • Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
  • The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required. You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

    Engaging in sensory play, outings, and motivating activities both at home and in the community Encouraging independence, emotional regulation, and social interaction Following therapeutic approaches and routines already established within the home Creating a calm, positive, and trusting environment He enjoys sensory activities, movement, outdoor activities, music, water play, and interactive play. I am looking for someone who is: Caring, patient, reliable, and understanding. Calm and proactive in their approach. Willing to learn communication and therapeutic strategies. Physically active and able to safely support an energetic child. Able to build a trusting relationship over time. Experienced in supporting children or young people with additional needs (preferred but not essential) Training will be provided for the right person. An enhanced DBS check is required for this role and will be paid for by the employer.,
