Summary

When you work for the University of Lancashire, you'll be part of a thriving community of talent that's united in a common commitment to transform lives. We do this by delivering an outstanding educational experience and creating prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Whatever your role, you'll be playing a vital part in helping us achieve our vision.

About the role: This role will provide a comprehensive Personal Assistant and secretarial service to the Dean of School and others as agreed. The School of Engineering and Computing is one of the largest Schools in the University with over 200 staff and 2500 students; and this is a great opportunity to join a small and busy team who support the smooth running of the School, working cooperatively to maintain a high level of support and service quality.

About you: The successful candidate will be a highly organised and proactive individual, with experience of providing high-level administrative and personal assistance to senior leaders, ideally within a higher-education or similarly complex organisational environment. You must be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, complex diaries, and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.

You will have a range of GCSEs, including English Language and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or appropriate equivalent experiential learning, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ideally you will also be experienced in preparing high-quality correspondence, reports, agendas, and minutes, and in supporting committees, meetings, and governance processes.

You will be highly proficient in the use of standard office and digital systems, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy, along with being able to work independently, exercising sound judgement and initiative; whilst also contributing effectively as part of a wider team.

Use of AI in applications:

We want to understand your genuine interest in the role and artificial intelligence can be a useful tool to support your application. However, all examples and statements provided must be truthful, factually accurate and taken directly from your own experience and the written elements of your application should accurately reflect your own communication style. Applications that rely too heavily on AI tools can appear generic and lack the detail we need to assess your skills and experience.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.
