Are you passionate about providing guidance, practical support and advocacy for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people? Do you want to empower young people to achieve their goals, navigate the challenges of adulthood and explore their immigration options through effective Triple Planning? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for a Personal Advisor to join our Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) Team. Working alongside Social Workers, you will play a key role in supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people from the point they arrive in Cambridgeshire. You'll recognise the impact of trauma, loss and uncertainty, while helping young people build positive futures.

Through holistic assessments, including age assessments where required, you'll support young people to navigate the immigration process and work towards independence, education, employment and long-term stability.

Based at Scott House in Huntingdon, this is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. We have exciting ambitions for the UASC Team and the wider Leaving Care Service, making this a great time to join us.

Cambridgeshire County Council is developing a new model of practice that places relationships at its heart and encourages ambition for children in our care. We want every child and young person to have the best possible opportunities in their homes, education, family relationships and future aspirations. At the same time, we remain committed to delivering our vision for a greener, fairer and more caring Cambridgeshire.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact:

  • Monica Madyambwa - Monica.Madyambwa@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

We expect interviews to be held at Scott House, Huntingdon, on 4 September 2026. Appointment to this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Cambridgeshire County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
