  • reporting to the Manager of Shropshire Music Service who is in turn responsible
  • for your health and safety, training and development.
  • responsible for the development of pupils' musical knowledge and ability in
  • addition to their wider musicianship development.
  • expected to participate in an annual peer observation and appraisal process
  • expected to abide by the teachers' terms and conditions as outlined in the
  • handbook
  • expected to undertake and participate in CPD opportunities
  • What will you be doing?
  • Provide instrumental music tuition (lower strings, brass, woodwind, and/or voice) in
  • a variety of settings (individual, group, whole class tuition) and where possible, deliver musical activities to early years settings.
  • Work within a team and participate in developments in teaching and
  • learning relating to the curriculum and all relevant instruments, according to your specialism.
  • Advise students, parents, carers and schools in the hire or purchase of relevant
  • instrumental equipment and appropriate learning materials.
  • Communicate professionally and responsibly with parents, schools and other
  • stakeholders as required.
  • Comply with current instructions relating to legal documentation for teaching (for
  • example, registers) to facilitate the efficient administration of the Music Service.
  • Liaise with parents, guardians, and schools in relation to individual pupil progress.
  • Attend training and development sessions and other continuous professional
  • development opportunities arranged by the Music Service.
  • Participate in the annual observation and appraisal scheme.
  • Undertake other duties, from time to time and as required by the Music Service

This isdelivered in a variety of ways: one-to-one instrumental tuition, smallgroup instrumental tuition, whole class instrumental tuition, music curriculum delivery,leading ensembles, delivering EYFS provision. The nature of peripatetic work means thathours are variable (a minimum of two hours per week is provided as aninitial indication) and will be delivered in a range of educational settings across thecounty.
