Perinatal Quality Improvement and Assurance Midwife

The Perinatal Quality Improvement and Assurance Midwife will work within the multidisciplinary maternity and neonatal team to promote a culture of continuous quality improvement, clinical excellence, patient safety and regulatory assurance. The post holder will provide leadership and expertise in the planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the maternity quality improvement, clinical audit, assurance and clinical documentation programmes. The role will support the implementation of national, regional and local maternity priorities and ensure effective monitoring of compliance with evidence-based standards, regulatory requirements and quality improvement initiatives. Working collaboratively with maternity, neonatal and corporate colleagues, the post holder will coordinate quality improvement activity, audit programmes, assurance processes, guideline governance and action tracking systems to ensure learning is translated into sustainable improvements in clinical practice and outcomes for women, birthing people and babies. The post holder will lead on assurance processes relating to national maternity safety programmes, including the NHS Resolution Maternity Incentive Scheme, and support preparation for external reviews, accreditation processes and Care Quality Commission inspections., This job description outlines the core requirements expected of a Band 7 practitioner working in an autonomous enhanced practice role. • Registered Midwife with current NMC registration with midwifery degree
• Significant post-registration maternity experience.
• Experience of analysing data and producing reports.

• Postgraduate qualification
• Qualification in Quality Improvement methodology.
• Experience of clinical audit, quality improvement, governance or assurance activity.
• Experience of maternity governance or assurance roles., Ability to motivate and engage others in quality improvement activity.
• Ability to facilitate change and improvement.

• Experience leading organisational quality improvement or assurance programmes, Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to quality improvement and excellence in patient care.

• Experience delivering education and presentations.
