Full Job Description

This post represents an exciting opportunity for an experienced and compassionate physiotherapy assistant to join the Pelvic Health Physiotherapy team as a Pelvic Health Assistant Practitioner working within the Perinatal Pelvic Health Service. You will be working under indirect supervision to assess, manage and treat women antenatally and up to 12 months post birth, taking a life course approach to prevention and minimisation of poorer outcomes in later life., Works across all UHDB sites to support equitable patient care. Provides a high-quality physiotherapy service in outpatient settings, maternity wards, labour suites, gynaecology wards, and in 1:1 or group sessions delivered face-to-face or virtually under direct or indirect supervision. Offers assistance by triaging referrals, managing emails and voicemails, and supporting daily operational tasks. Independently provides pre-defined advice to women in maternity settings, including physiotherapy discharge. Delivers one-to-one pelvic health treatment sessions, progressing exercises appropriately and applying knowledge of exercise prescription. Plans, implements, and adapts treatment within scope of competence, following departmental policies and procedures. Attends team meetings and in-service training with the wider Therapy Services team. Engages in ongoing personal development, identifying learning needs proactively. Ensures safe use and fitting of equipment such as mobility aids, wrist splints, tubigrip, maternity belts and theraband. Contributes to induction and training of new staff, students, and unqualified colleagues in outpatients. Supports wider departmental duties including resus equipment checks, cleaning tasks, tap running, and mobility aid checks.
