Perinatal Mortality & Safety Coordinator

12 month Secondment- Band 6 Midwife- 37.5 hours per week The post holder will be expected to work clinically 0.2 WTE to support the maternity service as needed, and contribute to the on call roster. The Band 6 Perinatal Mortality and Safety Coordinator midwife will work within the Maternity Directorate in the multidisciplinary team to promote a culture of staff and patient safety. To co-ordinate data collection, meetings and administration to ensure timely and effective investigations of perinatal mortality incidents. To ensure PMR reviews are undertaken in accordance with the current CNST Maternity Incentive Scheme requirements relating to perinatal mortality review. The post holder will support the implementation of the Trust's Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), contributing to learning responses, safety reviews, investigations and the identification of opportunities for system learning and improvement. To support the maternity clinical governance team and deputise for the patient safety midwives as needed.Main duties of the job

• Support the Patient Safety Midwives to identify any deaths eligible for the Perinatal Mortality Review (PMR) Process
• Responsible for coordinating the perinatal mortality reviews using the perinatal mortality review tool (PMRT) and liaising with the Patient Safety Midwives.
• Provide support to the Bereavement midwives to ensure all deaths eligible for the PMR process are reported to MBBRACE in line with the requirements of the current CNST Maternity Incentive Scheme.
• To undertake a rapid review of all perinatal deaths to identify any immediate safety concerns with a senior clinician. If care concerns are identified, then to raise these with the Patient Safety Midwives and the Maternity Clinical Governance Manager.
  
  Experience of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care
• Mentorship of students
• Able to work as an advocate for women, families and colleagues, Registered as a Midwife with the NMC
• Education/Mentorship Qualification or equivalent
• Evidence of Ongoing Development/Education, Knowledge of current midwifery issues and continuity of carer provision
• Knowledge of clinical governance processes
• Evidence of a flexible and innovative approach to service provision, Ability to apply evidence into practice
• Ability to cope with daily experience of families dealing with grief and trauma
• Ability to undertake audit
• IT skills i.e. report writing and data entry and analysis as necessary
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with the multi- professional team, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
