Full Job Description

The Perinatal Experience and Engagement Lead will oversee the "Your Voice is Heard" programme to embed a culture of listening and learning in maternity services. They will oversee patient feedback collection and analysis, drive service improvements through co-production, and manage complaints with compassion and transparency. The role involves building inclusive partnerships with community stakeholders, aligning initiatives with national priorities, and providing visible leadership to enhance patient experience. Additionally, the Lead will produce strategic reports, benchmarks performance, and represents maternity experience at internal and external forums, deputising for Director of Midwifery or Head of Patient Experience when required., This job description outlines the core requirements expected of a Band 8a Maternity Lead working in an autonomous advanced practice role. The list below is not exhaustive, and specific requirements related to any specialist area of practice will be outlined with the prospective post holder, in line with professional or service specific training requirements and their professional scope of practice. The post holder will update policies and guidelines on patient experience, implement customer care standards, and ensure staff training. Contribute to developing and updating Trust policies and guidelines related to patient experience and involvement, with a focus on maternity. Represent maternity services externally, build networks, and share best practice. Provide strategic leadership, manage the patient experience team, mentor staff, and foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.. Provide day-to-day strategic leadership for maternity patient experience. Act as deputy for senior leaders in meetings and decision-making, representing the patient engagement agenda at divisional and Trust-wide forums. Serve as a role model for compassionate leadership, offering mentorship and coaching to staff on patient-centred care and effective communication., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

  • Masters Degree (can be working towards) or equivalent experience
  • Extensive senior management experience in a healthcare setting, with a track record of leading patient experience, patient engagement or service improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully leading change in a complex organisation
  • Experience implementing marketing, communication, or engagement strategies
  • Desirable criteria
  • Current NMC registration as Midwife or Nurse
  • Evidence of continuous development through qualifications or workshops
  • Community engagement and advocacy involvement.
  • Experience in maternity or women's health service, In-depth knowledge of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles and legislation
  • Demonstrates passion for improving maternity experiences
  • Understands need for strong stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills
  • Ability to present complex data in an understandable way to diverse audiences
  • Desirable criteria
  • Training in improvement science
  • In-depth knowledge of national maternity initiatives and standards e.g. Ockendon Report recommendations, Continuity of Carer models etc
