The People Directorate is here to shape the Bank's people strategy, provide information, help and advice to colleagues and line managers to thrive in their roles, and to deliver important people services across the Bank. The directorate is made up of four divisions: People Strategy and Insights, People Advisory Services and Operations, People ED office and Reward. Our work helps the Bank to attract, identify, develop, nurture, retain and motivate the people we need to fulfil our mission. The People Strategy Partner role has been operating within the Bank's People Directorate since the start of 2024, as part of a major strategic change programme to maintain a modern and professional provision of the Bank's Central Services. The team is comprised of five People Strategy Partners, each supporting different areas of the business. People Strategy Partners are members of the People Directorate's senior leadership team and the People Strategy and Insights leadership team. In the role, you will play a meaningful part in strengthening trust and respect for professional people advice. This is a senior, strategic role, partnering with Executive Directors and Heads of Department across the Central Services Deputy Governorship. You will develop meaningful and collaborative relationships within the business area. You will be trusted to shape and implement effective people strategies which are tailored to enable the strategy and objectives of your business area. In partnership with senior leadership, you will support the building of organisational and people capability, and alignment with our people strategy. You will influence local leadership on the people agenda to improve the efficient and effective deployment of resources, providing professional advice and guidance on people practices such as restructuring, addressing gaps in skills and capabilities, effective long-term workforce planning, talent development and succession planning. As a local point of people expertise, you will connect your local business area with centres of excellence within the People Directorate, on matters relating to organisational design, employee services, talent, learning and development and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Key responsibilities will include:
- You will provide professional advice and guidance in line with our people policies while enabling the business area's strategic priorities and business objectives from a people perspective.
- You will work with the centres of excellence within the People Directorate, to ensure People initiatives are meeting local business needs and are designed effectively.
- You will support strategic people change management across various Target Operating Models - reviewing structure, design and people implications of change.
- Working with other business area aligned partners including but not limited to COOs, business managers, Finance Business Partners to deepen understanding of business needs and strategic and operational challenges.
- Overseeing projects that address the workplace environment, employee engagement or retention issues within the business area, particularly in response to staff feedback and the annual Viewpoint survey.
- Drawing on people-related insights to ensure that the business area makes evidence-based decisions and develops proactive plans to address emerging issues.
- Questioning and challenging colleagues to get to the root of people and business issues and ensuring local accountability for the provision of high standards of people leadership.
- Maintaining and growing your own professional capability; acting as a mentor and role model to colleagues; sharing best practices.
Strong working background in professional HR management (ideally HR business partnership experience) and employment good practice, including specialist experience in one or more HR discipline. - Strong business sense and cultural awareness, ability to understand the immediate business priorities and those of the wider financial services and economic environment.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to tackle exciting challenges and mitigate emerging risks.
- Experience of building effective, trusted relationships., Ability and confidence to collaborate with and influence senior stakeholders and professional peers and establish self quickly as a "trusted advisor".
- Pragmatic problem solver with proven experience operating at senior levels in an organisation.
- Ability to review people matters with a Bank-wide lens, join-up thinking and understand and address wider people implications across business areas.
- Experience in dealing with business restructuring and reorganisation, as well as mitigating risk in the context of major change programmes.
- Experience in dealing with complex ER cases.
- Embody the Bank's leadership values - human, humble and in step with the changing world, promoting an inclusive culture and working environment.

Salary and Benefits Information We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. The salary for this role is, Leeds, £76,240 - £85,770. In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below: - Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year. The Bank has the discretion to vary standard accrual rates and dial up and dial down rates at any time and to withdraw dial up and dial down options at any time.
- A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
- An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
