Full Job Description
We are looking for a proactive and detail-focused People Assistant to join our Colleague Services team, playing a key role in delivering high-quality recruitment and onboarding services across North Tyneside Council. This is a fast-paced and rewarding role where you will support managers through the full recruitment lifecycle, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for candidates, and coordinate onboarding activity so that new starters and employment changes are processed accurately and in line with payroll deadlines. You will be at the heart of our People services, ensuring employee records are maintained to a high standard, supporting compliance with legislation, and helping deliver an efficient, customer-focused service that supports the Council's priorities.,
- Supporting end-to-end recruitment, from advertising roles to coordinating onboarding
- Managing vacancies using systems such as NE Jobs and ensuring activity progresses efficiently
- Coordinating onboarding, ensuring checks (e.g. right to work, DBS) are completed on time
- Processing new starters and employment changes accurately and in line with payroll deadlines
- Maintaining accurate employee records within the People system
- Providing front-line advice on recruitment, onboarding and People processes
- Delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service against KPIs and SLAs
- Supporting continuous improvement of recruitment and onboarding processes.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, customer-focused and committed to getting things right. You will have: - Experience in a busy administrative or HR environment
- Experience supporting recruitment and/or onboarding activity
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in handling pay related data
- The ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines
- Experience of working with HR or payroll systems
- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive information
- Good IT skills and a collaborative approach
