The service focuses on supporting people to:

  • Peer Support Workers are a key part of the team, bringing a unique and valued perspective through lived experience. As a Peer Support Worker, you will:
  • Work alongside individuals to share experience, offer encouragement and support recovery
  • Develop mutual, collaborative relationships that promote empowerment and choice
  • Support people to access opportunities and reconnect with their communities
  • Act as an ambassador for recovery within the team and wider system
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of peer support within the service
  • This is a community-based role, involving travel, lone working and supporting people in a range of settings.Main duties of the job The post holder will:
  • Use personal lived experience of mental health recovery to inspire hope and support others
  • Build supportive, non-judgemental relationships with service users
  • Support individuals to identify their own goals and recovery priorities
  • Provide practical and emotional support to promote independence and self-management
  • Encourage access to community activities, social networks and opportunities
  • Share experiences appropriately to role model recovery and resilience
  • Work alongside the MDT to support coordinated, person-centred care
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with the team

    Ability to use lived experience in a safe, appropriate and professional way
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate others
  • Compassionate, non-judgemental and person-centred approach
  • Ability to maintain boundaries and self-awareness
