Full Job Description
Royal Holloway, University of London is seeking a motivated and student-centred Peer Support Scheme Officer to help deliver and develop our University-wide Peer Support Scheme. This role sits at the heart of our work to support student transition, belonging and success, and forms part of our Access and Participation Plan.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a hands-on role in building a supportive, inclusive and connected student community, working closely with students, academic departments, professional services and the Students' Union.
About the role
As Peer Support Scheme Officer, you will coordinate the day-to-day delivery of the University's Peer Support Scheme, ensuring it operates smoothly and consistently across the academic year. You will support departments in establishing and embedding peer mentoring activity, oversee student recruitment and matching processes, and provide training, guidance and ongoing support to student peer mentors.
You will also contribute to evaluating the impact of peer support activity, using student feedback and participation data to inform continuous improvement and reporting to internal stakeholders.
What you will be doing
# Coordinating the operation of the Peer Support Scheme, including communications, matching and record-keeping
# Supporting academic departments and services to deliver effective peer mentoring programmes
# Recruiting, training and supervising student peer mentors
# Delivering engaging training sessions in person and online
# Promoting the scheme through clear, inclusive and engaging communications
# Monitoring participation and impact, and producing reports and insights
# Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Student Journey Division and the Students' Union
You will also support wider Student Engagement & Insights activity, including Welcome Week, RH100 and student surveys.
You will bring strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with a genuine enthusiasm for supporting students and enhancing their experience at Royal Holloway.
You will have:
# Experience coordinating student-facing projects, events or schemes in a higher education or similar environment
# Experience supporting or supervising students or volunteers, including recruitment and training
# Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
# A good understanding of safeguarding and student wellbeing principles
# Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft 365 applications
Experience of peer mentoring schemes, student insight and evaluation, or engagement data systems would be an advantage, but is not essential.
This role may involve occasional evening or weekend working to support events and student activity. The post holder may be required to work at any Royal Holloway location.
If you are passionate about student engagement, belonging and peer support, we would love to hear from you.
In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:
# Generous annual leave entitlement
# Training and Development opportunities
# Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution
# Various schemes including Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loans and help with the cost of Eyesight testing.
# Free parking
The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
