Full Job Description
As an integral and highly valued member of the Rehab multi-disciplinary team the Peer Support Practitioner will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to service users to promote choice, and work with them to regain control over their lives. Helping to identify aspects of life that give meaning, hope, value and purpose, recognising that each individual's recovery is a distinctive and deeply personal process. The Peer Support Practitioner will act as a champion for recovery within the team and will work with service users on a 1-to-1 and/or group basis. There are a number of development opportunities both within the post itself and in terms of future pathways into other types of role. Wellbeing in the role is important to us and we provide regular supervision and an 'open door' policy to support your own health and well-being. The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)., The role of Peer Support Practitioner will involve:
- Building strong, supportive relationships with our Service Users
- Helping Service Users to set realistic and positive goals and empowering them to live fuller, more fulfilling lives
- Supporting the group programme on offer by sharing your own experiences
- Developing the service, and helping its users to get involved in this process
- Completing a range of administrative tasks
- Liaising widely with other staff and services within the community
- Promoting awareness of mental health and reducing stigma
We have an exciting opportunities for enthusiastic and motivated individual with lived experience of mental health services to join our Inpatient Rehabilitation Services., A background of personally recovering from mental health issues, and willingness to positively share own life experiences. - Experience of using mental health services.
- Good verbal and written communication skills The post will also involve contributing to the development of the Peer Support Practitioner role, particularly within mental health services.
