Full Job Description
PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE IS ONLY OPEN TO LEEDS TRINITY STUDENTS.Fixed Term role to June 2026Leeds Trinity University is seeking to recruit a number of students to perform the role of Peer Support Champion (PSC) for the 2025-26 academic year. If you will be a L4 (former Foundation Year), L5, L6 or Post Graduate student in the upcoming academic year and are interested in both helping your fellow students and gaining valuable experience, this role is for you This role is flexible and can be fitted around your studies. It entails assisting other students by:Providing peer support (both face-to-face and online) for students both within and outside of taught classes
- Supporting Academic Skills staff in workshops and L3 classes
- Running drop-in sessions during term-time
- Providing pastoral guidance and signposting students to essential support services at LTU
- Providing academic skills advice and general advice on university life and acting as a point of contact for students regarding where to find academic support
- Sharing experiences that might be a helpful source of support for new students
- Providing non-medical assistance to students who need support with their academic work. This could include attending lectures as a scribe/notetaker; reading for students with visual impairments; and providing support with accessing and using the library
- Providing non-medical assistance to students who need support with mobility around campus, such as practical support with wheelchairs and acting as a sighted guide
- Potentially acting as a buddy to a student new to the university
- Promoting PSC events through class visits, open days, and atrium pop-up events You will be given appropriate training to prepare you for the role. You will also be given support by the Academic Skills and the Student Support teams to help you handle student enquiries and in providing non-medical assistance. The drop-in sessions will be agreed between the successful candidates and line manager. In-class and non-medical assistance hours will vary, depending on the needs and numbers of students who require such support. Hours of work will be planned in discussion with the successful candidates to fit around their studies and other commitments. Undertaking this role is an excellent opportunity to gain useful experience and to enhance your CV.
