Full Job Description
As a Payroll Processing & Control Officer, you will support the Payroll Team Manager in delivering an accurate and efficient payroll service. You will manage key monthly payroll processes, load and validate payroll data, reconcile payments and deductions, meet statutory deadlines and resolve system issues. You will also provide payroll advice and guidance, oversee daily workloads and help ensure strong financial and payroll controls are maintained., What you will do:
- Manage key monthly payroll processes, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately and on time.
- Load, reconcile and validate payroll data, making sure all required financial and payroll controls are completed.
- Reconcile deductions and payments with financial systems, ensuring payments reach the relevant bodies by required deadlines.
- Investigate payroll system issues, working with the Systems Team to identify and resolve problems.
- Prepare and reconcile statutory and non statutory returns, ensuring all deadlines and requirements are met.
- Oversee the daily workload of Payroll Assistants, while providing payroll advice, guidance and training to customers and colleagues.
Strong analytical and numerical skills, with excellent attention to detail. - Good knowledge of payroll processes, Income Tax, National Insurance and General Ledger functions.
- Ability to plan, prioritise and work accurately to strict deadlines.
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to advise, guide and train managers and colleagues.
- A proactive approach to solving problems and improving payroll processes.
- A strong commitment to teamwork, customer service, confidentiality and developing the payroll service.
