An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Diabetes and Endocrinology team at Southend Hospital as a Patient Pathway Assistant. This is a varied and rewarding role that requires a motivated and organised individual who thrives in a busy environment. You will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to Consultants and the wider clinical team, ensuring the smooth coordination of patient pathways and supporting the delivery of high-quality care. We are looking for a strong team player who is flexible, proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be a key point of contact for patients, colleagues, and external stakeholders, ensuring a professional and compassionate service at all times. You will play an important role in representing the department, maintaining high standards of professionalism, and contributing to an efficient, patient-focused service.   • Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to Consultants within the Diabetes and Endocrine service and their wider team.
  • Manage clinic administration, including scheduling appointments, coordinating patient pathways and handling correspondence.
  • Ensure accurate and timely typing, formatting and distribution of clinical letters, reports and documentation.
  • Act as a key point of contact for patients, GPs and other healthcare professionals, maintaining clear and professional communication.
  • Maintain and update patient records in line with Trust policies, ensuring confidentiality and data accuracy at all times.
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the service, responding flexibly to changing demands and priorities.
  • Assist with the coordination of multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and related administrative tasks.
  • Undertake additional administrative duties as required to support service delivery and meet operational needs.
