Full Job Description

As a new member of the team, you will be offered 4 weeks initial supernumerary status, an orientation day, an HCA competency program and clinical mentorship with both trained and non-trained team members. An overview of the job is as follows: - Assist in the administration, organisation, and delivery of a co-ordinated and responsive patient blood management service - Assist with the training requirements within the PBM service - Assist with the maintenance of equipment to include QC, EQA and troubleshooting - Maintenance and ordering of stock where appropriate and completion of associated documentation - PBM data management and analysis - Assist in audit, research and clinical governance processes - Use of all related IT systems - Ability to work where the work pattern may be unpredictable e.g. prioritising patient demands and unexpected changes to theatre operating lists and location - Ability to work a flexible shift pattern covering a 24-hour service, including on calls, weekends and bank holidaysMain duties of the job Clinical Responsibilities/Key Responsibilities - The post holder, under supervision, will assist the blood conservation practitioner and the wider multidisciplinary team in delivering the ICS and blood management provision within theatre - Obtain and deploy resources for ICS and blood management provision - Ability to interact with people at all levels and work effectively as a team member - To communicate effectively, especially where patient ability to do so is compromised and there are barriers to understanding e.g. hearing difficulties, using tact and reassurance - Under guidance, deliver safe patient care within a challenging and changing clinical environment, using equipment and resources safely and as appropriate - Discretion and understanding of confidentiality and data protection - Understand and adhere to Trust Policies and Procedures - Provide advice and guidance within own sphere of knowledge to students and other team members - Ability to get on well with people at all levels and work effectively as a team member. - Organise own day to day work tasks and activities - Ability to respond to adapt to changes within an emergency situation - Working within the multidisciplinary team supporting the delivery of assessed and evaluated programmes of care - To undertake additional, delegated clinical responsibilities as required
- Maths & English at minimum of functional skills L2
- Proficient in spoken English, Insight into the roles and responsibilities of the position
- Excellent communication skills including verbal, non- verbal and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Team working Clinical experience,
- Experience within a health care setting e.g. portering or health care assistant role preferred but not essential. Full training provided
