Full Job Description
Initially, in the summer term you will play a vital role in supporting Year 6 transition, to prepare students for the start of their education with us when they join in September, as well as building a strong foundation for future relationships throughout their time at Rugeley John Taylor School. In addition you will be required to support the wider team in helping identify and reducing the barriers to attendance for existing students.
The right candidate will have immediate opportunities to work directly with students and parents in addressing matters relating to safeguarding, behaviour, mental health, and the provision of special educational needs. The successful candidate does not need to be an expert in these fields, but they do need to demonstrate an interest in learning about them alongside a determination to make sure every young person has access to provision which meets their unique needs.
Excellent standards of organisation and prioritisation will be required, as well as an ability to always work in a calm and orderly manner. Often this work will require resilience and adaptability as the post-holder is required to respond to the immediate needs of a young person, their family or the colleagues working to support them.
We have a passion for excellence demonstrated by a broad curriculum and high-quality leadership. We work hard to create collaboration across the Trust, and the Central Team reside in one of our schools, to remain grounded in school life. We have a strong track record of governance and health and safety, and our schools and Trust enjoy a healthy and stable financial position; we look to the future with anticipation of further growth and to support those schools already in our family by working together and adding value.
Rugeley John Taylor School, part of John Taylor MAT, is proud to be growing the only 'all-through' school within our Trust family. Having opened our doors to our first cohort, we are continuing to build a school that will serve local communities from the earliest years right through to Sixth Form, offering a 'gold standard' learning experience. As we expand, we continue to embed the core features of John Taylor MAT that have become a hallmark of its success.
We're looking for a talented individual to help foster a positive and supportive learning environment for our young people. Your experience of pastoral care will place our students' welfare at the heart of our school. With a further cohort of students joining us in September, this is a vital, high-profile role, and the post-holder will be required to work with colleagues across the school as well as from external agencies., Guidance about whether a conviction or caution should be disclosed can be found on the Ministry of Justice website: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/new-guidance-on-the-rehabilitation-of-offenders-act-1974, Thank you for your interest in John Taylor MAT - we hope the information here will outline what it means to work with us.
The Trust was founded in 2014, in John Taylor High School - an outstanding secondary school in Barton-Under-Needwood, and the first in Staffordshire to convert to become an Academy. We have grown steadily over time and currently serve 13 infant/primary schools, and 6 secondary schools.
In addition, the Staffordshire Research School and John Taylor Teaching School Hub are also key parts of our Trust, having gained a reputation for delivering outstanding professional development and support for teachers across a wide ranging offer.
The mission for the Trust is "We believe in the power of education to improve lives - and the world." We are driven to ensure our communities can realise their true potential through learning. This is our mission. We provide experiences, resources, structures, and systems to enable all to engage, all to progress, all to achieve.
