As Pastoral Support Manager you will have oversight and management of the day-to-day leadership of our pastoral support provision. Reporting to the Director for Pastoral Support and Behaviour you will lead, manage and develop a committed team, ensuring students receive high-quality, responsive and inclusive support that enables them to thrive academically, socially and personally. You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, embedding effective policies and procedures, and ensuring that pastoral services align with the College's values, quality standards and strategic priorities. Acting as an advocate for the student voice, you will help ensure services meet the evolving needs of a diverse learner population. What you'll be doing

  • Managing pastoral teams to deliver an excellent, student-centred service.
  • Ensuring strong focus on attendance, retention and achievement, with effective monitoring and intervention.
  • Managing staff, resources and data effectively.
  • Supporting the implementation of the Positive Behaviour Management policy.
  • Developing collaborative relationships with curriculum teams, parents, carers and external agencies.
  • Championing equality, diversity, inclusion, safeguarding and learner wellbeing.
  • Contributing to training, development and a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

    We are seeking an exceptional Pastoral Support Manager to join our Pastoral Support team, working across Worthing and Northbrook campuses. This is an essential and impactful role within the College, offering the opportunity to shape and lead outstanding pastoral provision that supports attendance, retention, achievement and personal development for all students., You will have experience working within Further Education or a similar setting, with significant direct student contact and a proven track record of leading teams. You will bring strong organisational and communication skills, the ability to set and monitor SMART targets, and confidence in working with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Educated to at least A-Level standard (or equivalent), you will have a broad knowledge of learner support services, inclusive learning, and relevant legislation including safeguarding, equality and disability legislation. Relevant qualifications in coaching, mental health or managing challenging behaviour are desirable. Most importantly, you will be proactive, flexible and genuinely committed to supporting students to achieve their full potential.
