Full Job Description

The Partnership & Engagement Team are looking for a dynamic and committed Participation Officer to join the team and help put young people at the heart of decision making in Doncaster. The primary focus of the role is to deliver youth voice and engagement work across the city to ensure children and young people are actively involved in the shaping of services and positive activities in their communities.
This full-time temporary role will play a pivotal role in providing a city-wide voice service driven by the active participation of young people and their views and needs.
The successful candidate will work directly with children and young people across the city, supporting them to engage in meaningful participation projects, influence local decision-making, and drive campaigns to improve services that affect their lives.
The job will involve facilitating youth-led projects and campaigns on key issues identified by young people, support youth forum groups, develop inclusive and creative engagement methods to reach diverse groups of young people, collaborate with other service teams to embed young people's voices in service design and delivery, organise and deliver events, consultations, and training sessions to promote youth engagement.
The post holder will be required to travel across Doncaster in various settings including the myplace youth hub buildings.
The successful candidate must have experience of working and engaging with children and young people. The role will require someone adaptable with outstanding interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills are essential.

The ability to be flexible in approach to dealing with difficult situations, working with sensitive and confidential information, and working well under pressure is essential. As a participation officer you will need to be flexible with your working hours to meet the demands of the service and must be able to work evenings and occasional weekends.
