Full Job Description
We are looking for a talented and tenacious Parliamentary Correspondent to join our Westminster-based team. This is a rare opportunity to work at the heart of British politics, reporting directly from the House of Commons and House of Lords. You'll play a crucial role in delivering fast, fair and accurate coverage of political proceedings to PA's subscribers - a vital part of our national news service. You'll work closely with colleagues across editorial, video, pictures and graphics to bring the most significant stories to life. From live speeches and debates to policy announcements and behind-the-scenes developments, you'll ensure the key moments in UK politics are captured and conveyed with authority and speed. This role is ideal for a politically engaged journalist who thrives under pressure, has a sharp news sense, and is ready to play a central role in shaping how the UK sees Westminster.,
- Deliver accurate, timely coverage of proceedings in both Houses of Parliament.
- Prioritise the most important political stories for our wide range of customers.
- Ensure copy meets PA's high standards of accuracy, fairness and legal compliance.
- Coordinate with video, photo and graphics teams to produce rich, multimedia content.
- Maintain awareness of key events in the political calendar through diary planning.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and respond to editorial needs in real time.
Strong reporting skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure. - NCTJ qualification (or equivalent) with 100wpm shorthand.
- A keen interest in UK politics and parliamentary affairs.
- Experience in fast-paced news environments.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to work across formats.
- Confidence to work flexibly, including early mornings and late sittings, as required.
