Full Job Description
To provide high-quality paralegal and administrative support to the Tribunal Advocate in managing employment tribunal claims on behalf of employer clients. The role involves assisting with case preparation, document management, legal research, drafting correspondence and tribunal documentation, liaising with clients and witnesses, and supporting the effective progression of cases from initial claim through to final hearing. The Paralegal will play a key role in ensuring tribunal matters are handled efficiently, professionally, and in line with legal deadlines and procedural requirements., Employment Tribunal Case Support
- Assist in the management of employment tribunal claims from receipt of ET1 through to final hearing
- Prepare case files, bundles, witness documentation, and hearing packs
- Draft routine correspondence, tribunal responses, applications, and preliminary documentation for review by the Tribunal Advocate
- Liaise with ACAS on matters such as conciliation, Judicial Mediation
- Support the preparation of ET3 responses, grounds of resistance, schedules of loss, lists of issues, and case management documents and COT3 documentation where required.
- Monitor tribunal deadlines and ensure compliance with procedural timetables and case management orders
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and electronic filing systems Client and Witness Liaison
- Act as a point of contact for clients regarding case progression and documentation requests
- Liaise with clients, Tribunal Compliance Lead, managers, and witnesses to obtain information and supporting evidence
- Arrange witness meetings, hearing preparation sessions, and case conferences
- Support witness statement preparation and document collation Legal Research and Documentation
- Undertake legal research relating to employment law, tribunal procedure, and case law
- Prepare summaries of legal authorities and relevant precedents
- Assist in reviewing evidence, contracts, policies, disciplinary records, and investigation documentation
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, professionally presented, and legally compliant Administrative Support
- Prepare Case Summary paperwork
- Manage diaries, hearing dates, deadlines, and tribunal correspondence
- Maintain internal Case Management Portal
- Organise tribunal bundles and electronic case management systems
- Support billing administration and case tracking where required
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with GDPR and professional standards
Essential Skills and Experience - Previous paralegal experience, ideally within employment law, litigation, or HR-related legal services
- Strong understanding of employment tribunal processes and employment law principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines effectively
- Strong document drafting and proofreading skills
- Professional and confident approach when dealing with clients and senior stakeholders
- Proficient in adobe packages/pdf writing software, Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel Desirable
- Law degree, LPC, CILEx qualification, or equivalent legal training/experience
- Experience supporting tribunal advocacy or litigation case preparation
- Knowledge of HR processes including disciplinaries, grievances, dismissals, and discrimination matters
