Full Job Description
You will assist with the provision of expert clinical care, support and advice for children and families/carers under the care of the paediatric trauma and orthopaedic and spinal services based at BRHC, throughout the care pathway, ensuring a seamless service for these patients. You will work alongside the established team of Band 6 and 7 Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedic and Spinal Nurse Specialists. We are seeking a caring, motivated, reliable and dynamic nurse with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to contribute to the provision of an excellent standard of care to this patient group within the BRHC in-patient and out-patient setting as well as supporting families on discharge. - Ensure high-quality care for inpatients, including clear record-keeping and effective case load management systems.
- Develop the service in collaboration with healthcare professionals, patients, carers, and community teams, ensuring equitable access to acute hospital care for children with learning disabilities and/or autism.
- Provide expert advice and support to hospital staff, carers, and families, facilitating reasonable adjustments to hospital procedures to meet the needs of children and young people
- Support safe discharge planning and help prevent delayed discharge or avoidable readmissions, ensuring children receive the care they need in a timely and safe manner.
- Act as a role model for junior staff and students, providing guidance, mentorship, and clinical supervision.
- Lead and participate in projects aimed at improving care pathways and outcomes for children with trauma, orthopaedic or spinal needs, including service evaluation and development.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to care that meets both clinical and emotional needs.
- Provide insightful, empathetic communication with families, particularly in complex or sensitive situations, ensuring families feel supported and informed throughout the process., welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
